But when Roger Federer is also labeled the male ‘Justine Henin', it does not seem so bad after all.
And she is that good on the court.
Henin, or ‘Juju' as she's called by her legion of fans, is considered petite in the present world of women's tennis. Compared to the likes of the Williams sisters, Amelie Mauresmo and Maria Sharapova, Henin is literally overshadowed by this lot.
But in terms of achievements, Henin can more than hold her own.
The Belgian won 41 singles tournaments and seven grand slams - she won four French Open titles, two US Opens and one Australian. Wimbledon remains the only blot on her report card.
During her reign as world number one, her familiar shout of "Allez!" after hitting winners was common place and so was her usual celebration with a short fist pump.
As fate would have it, Henin was born during Roland Garros on 1 June 1982. The French Open would become a grand slam tournament she will grow to love and dominate both at junior and senior level.
She got her first professional break on the Women's Tennis Association tour in May 1999. She had gained a wild card entry in the Belgian Open at Antwerp and she went on to become only the fifth player to win her debut WTA Tour event.
It was in 2003 that Henin again made her mark in tennis history by being the first Belgian to win a Grand Slam title. She had overcome defending champion Serena Williams in the semi-final and beat her fellow-Belgian Kim Clijsters in the final. Clijsters went on to meet Henin again in two finals of the Grand Slams - and lost both of them.
Henin, who had started that year at number five, was ranked No. 1 at the end of it. She was to hold the number one title for more than a hundred weeks.
Tennis fans will remember her for her perfect strokes on the courts - especially her powerful one-handed backhand. Once unleashed from her racket the ball will home in on its target like a cruise missile. Her backhand is said to be a rare technique that is not even commonly seen in the men's game.
She has earned nearly US$20 million in prize money. When she eliminated Serena, then Venus, at the 2007 U.S. Open, Henin became the first woman to beat both sisters en route to a major title.
Besides winning WTA titles, the Belgian also won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics for her country. It was an achievement which she was immensely proud of.
Henin called it a day on 14 May 2008 at the grand young age of 25 shocking the tennis world all over. In doing so, she became the first woman to retire while ranked No. 1 by the WTA.
"I realized that I was at the end of the road," Henin said during a news conference at her tennis academy outside Brussels. "I lived through it all, I had given it all."
In recognition of her achievements, Henin received triple honors on Sunday night at Ostend, Northern Belgium in her nation's most prestigious sporting occasion - Sports Gala.
The tennis champion was given a lifetime career achievement award with special video messages from American tennis legend Pete Sampras and her male childhood tennis idol - Stefan Edberg.
Perhaps the Roland Garros organisers can consider naming one of their courts after Justine Henin. To help celebrate and remember a true champion.
It will remind the present generation of how Henin captured their hearts with her tennis. It will also help to educate future generations why this tennis great should be remembered.

make money

Champions foot ball

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6XAg8GM_jNY/SP34EUlPgxI/AAAAAAAAADE/J-cnBrdAMzo/s400/137788_11_preview.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259632692966687506" />
Champions League
Tuesday 21st October 2008
Reds will rise to the challenge
Dirk Kuyt believes Liverpool can make a major statement of intent if they can win their clash away to Atletico Madrid.
Liverpool fly out to the Spanish capital on Tuesday morning for a Group D match, where victory in the Vicente Calderon would virtually clinch their progress into the knockout stages.
Dutch forward Kuyt, who scored twice to beat Wigan on Saturday as injured Fernando Torres' stand-in, can expect a similar role in Madrid.
But even without their Spanish star, Kuyt is confident Liverpool can become the first English side to win a European match in Atletico's intimidating stadium.
Kuyt said: "This is the big one in our group, to win would be a very strong statement. We know Atletico are a very strong, tough side but it is another challenge and one we will rise to.
"If we get a win in Madrid it will take us a very big step closer to qualification for the next stage of the Champions League.
"This is a vital week for us, firstly in Madrid and then at Chelsea on Sunday. Players can get tired with all the club matches and the internationals, but that is the way it is at the top.
"When you are with a big club you have to play every three or four days, but we prepare well. We drink and eat properly, we have our ice baths. We are professional and go to bed early!"
Boss Rafael Benitez is confident Kuyt can continue his European scoring run, which currently stands at 10 goals in his last 17 Champions League games.
He said: "Without Fernando we know the option is to play Kuyt up front, and it works well for us.
"He can score goals, we always know that. He is a very important player for us, a special player who works so hard.
"He can play on the right very well, but now he may have to stand in again for Torres and I have every faith in him. He is a player with so much industry in his game, any manager would be happy to have him in their side."
He added: "I am confident that my players can produce the right performances this week.
"We are showing character and the right mentality you need for a winning team. We have Atletico next and then Chelsea - two very tough away matches.
"It has to be a case of concentrating on each game, not looking to the future. But our players are showing great character.
"We can field a team good enough to beat Atletico, then we must think about how we play at Chelsea. But I am confident in my players that they can produce the right performances.
"We have a few minor injury problems to (Yossi) Benayoun, (Steven) Gerrard and (Robbie) Keane, but I do not expect them to be serious, they should all play on Wednesday."

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6XAg8GM_jNY/SP311-s7TmI/AAAAAAAAACk/5RN56RPXnBQ/s400/139307_11_preview.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259630247551913570" />
Tuesday 21st October 2008

Akram: Let Dhoni lead in Tests now
Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram feels it is time for wicketkeeper MS Dhoni to start leading the Indian side regularly.
Akram, speaking exclusively to Mobile ESPN, said: "Dhoni has got a hang of it. Let him be the captain now. He did a wonderful job of leading the side in Mohali."
The cricketer-turned-commentator said Anil Kumble has had his time and there is not much cricket left for him.
"How long can Kumble play now? At max one year? I would certainly support Kumble's decision to retire now."
"India are doing well with a young team. That's the way it should be. It is Dhoni's time now."
Akram feels the Indian media, will for obvious reasons, heap praises on the team for an outstanding win against Australia. But he cautioned the team to stay focussed.
"Look, Australia are a dangerous team. They will come back hard. India need to concentrate with two Tests left. They should not relax now."
"India must go out there to win both the Tests. If they go out and play for a draw, they will lose. It is as simple as that."
The highest wicket-taker in ODI's said the Indian team looked very good out in the middle.
"The team looked superb. The players gelled well, looked excited and looked well settled for a series that is one of the most exciting in the world."
Akram said the wicket in Mohali catered to India's strength: "I had said before the match that India should prepare wickets to suit their strength. That is what exactly happened. The pitch was flat and started turning from the third day."
Akram seemed genuinely pleased with the way Sourav Ganguly fought back to get amongst the runs again: "Ganguly played a superb innings. It was a dream come true for him, playing the way he is in his last series."
The stylish former all-rounder opined India have shown that they can be the best in the world. He was particularly impressed with India's bowlers, saying the pacers have finally mastered the art of reverse swing.
India clash against Australia in Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi from October 29 for the third and penultimate Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Ishant

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6XAg8GM_jNY/SPxzMmwxA6I/AAAAAAAAACc/kSVsmcamezs/s400/13.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259205125262607266" />
Ishant has a new bunny in Ponting
Ishant Sharma has a new bunny in Ricky Ponting, who he bagged for the sixth time in five Tests on the fourth day in Mohali.
By Rajarshi Gupta
Ishant has fast enough made the Ausralian skipper his bunny in the longer version of the game, much like his illustrious colleague, Harbhajan Singh, who has made it a habit of pouching Matthew Hayden.
Bowlers always find their prey and the best amongst the lot get after the most difficult of batsmen. Remember, the famous rivalry between former Australian fast bowler Glen McGrath and former England skipper Michael Atherton?
Pigeon pocketed Atherton as many as 19 times in 17 matches. The legendary Aussie Arthur Morris troubled Alec Bedser of England no end and sent him back on 18 occassions in the 21 Tests the two played against each other.
West Indian tearaway Malcolm Marshall got the better of Graham Gooch 16 times in 21 Tests. Atherton failed to get hold of another modern day great Courtney Walsh, who mesmerised the opener to send him back to the hut on 17 occasions in 27 Tests.
Walsh was also instrumental in seein the back of gutsy former Australian wicketkeeper Ian Healy 15 times in 28 Tests. McGrath breached his faith for Atherton after he decided to go after Brian Lara in the 24 Tests the two played against each other. The lanky Aussie new ball bowler got Lara on 15 occasions.
Big names and big deeds. Ishant has already started his ascent to the big league and Ponting is not too bad a name to have as a bunny. What is that gets to the best in business?
The psyche changes. When Ishant charged into the Australian skipper on Moday afternoon, it looked like something would give way, it looked like the bitter battle the two had started Down Under earlier this year would be stretched the extra mile and much to the delight of the sparse crowd at the PCA, the Delhi lad came up trumps, getting one to hurry past Punter and castling his off stump. Not a pretty sight for any batsman and Ponting is one of the greatest the game has ever seen. The afternoon battle in Mohali could well see the beginning of a new war in world cricket.
And how! Bhajji has repeatedly gone under the skin of the Aussies and in particluar Hayden, who minced no words in branding the Indian off-spinner an "obnoxious weed". Bhajji replied in typical style letting one slip through to Hayden, who hit down the wrong line, trying to sweep it from outside the off stump.
The scene is all set. The bunnies are looking for a place to hide. No worries. If this game had been game 35 or game 36 and we were three points or six points in front, okay.
"We need to play every game as if it was our last game for the season to arrive at the final one with maybe one or two teams in the same condition. That's what I want.
"I don't think about Manchester United, Arsenal or Liverpool, I think about my team.
"I only want to win the games. I am not really looking at the other teams because my job is Chelsea."
Chelsea were utterly dominant on Teesside, but having taken the lead through Salomon Kalou's 14th-minute strike, they had to wait until the 51st minute to give themselves breathing space.
However, Belletti's 35-yard piledriver, which gave keeper Ross Turnbull little chance, was worth waiting for.
The game was effectively over two minutes later when Kalou fired home his second off the unfortunate David Wheater's chest, but there was worse to come for the Teessiders.
Kalou's delicious one-two with Nicolas Anelka, who will consider himself unfortunate not to have claimed a hat-trick on the day, allowed the midfielder to present Frank Lampard with a diving header, which the England international guided gleefully into the net.
Florent Malouda, who had earlier passed up a glorious opportunity, scored from close range with 24 minutes remaining after Turnbull had spilled Anelka's shot on to the post.
The keeper redeemed himself in part with a fine save to deny Anelka as his defenders deserted him once again, but the final whistle could not come quickly enough for Gareth Southgate's men.
Chelsea's win was a triumph for the depth of and spirit within their squad, with former Barcelona utility man Belletti in particular revelling in the opportunity he has been given.
However, Scolari insisted his form has come as no surprise.
He said: "I know him very well. I am Brazilian and I know Belletti from when he started to play at Sao Paulo.
"I have played against him many times and I know his potential.
"He helps us in whatever position we put him in; midfield, right-back, any position."
On another day, Chelsea might have won even more handsomely, although Scolari was happy simply to have claimed the points.
He said: "If we win all the games 1-0, we are the champions."

Rankings

Rankings

Reliance Mobile Test Championship
Teams Matches Points Rating
1 Australia 26 3597 138
2 South Africa 34 3953 116
3 India 35 3819 109
4 Sri Lanka 28 3032 108
5 England 38 3965 104
6 Pakistan 19 1895 100
7 New Zealand 21 1738 83
8 West Indies 22 1791 81
9 Bangladesh 14 0 0
Chelsea continues to draw public attention; streaming video sites present the games of Chelsea live online and each victory of Chelsea brings more articles and TV reviews.

Football and its fans

Football has always comprised strong emotional reactions. Thousands of football fans watch with growing enthusiasm the on-going process of game, fully involved in a battle presented in front of them on a football field. This enjoyment of public games, presented in front of the viewers, goes back to the ancient games of the Chinese, which originally included kicking leather balls and win highest Football scores. Today, football is the most known sports game, attracting millions of viewers, which leads to the creation of thousands fan clubs around the world.

As the game proceeds, the excitement grows and sometimes becomes difficult to control. The excitement and enthusiasm is heated by the fact that no one knows how the game will end. The viewers make different bets, sometimes on large sums of money, and watch impatiently as the game proceeds, listening to updates in the Football coverage, hoping to hear that they won. Fans of different football groups are tracking the players’ movements and criticize or praise their moves. The atmosphere becomes tenser towards the end of the game, when every second counts.

Emotional involvement in the game often brings to rivals between fans. At the mass brawl in May 2007, up to hundred Liverpool fans fought each other in Athens, hoping to get a single Champions League ticket. As a result, two supporters were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The police didn’t succeed in putting an end to the riots. History of football remembers many similar cases with even worse injuries, sometimes even resulting in deaths of the excited football fans.

Football news has always maintained a foothold in the enthusiasm of fans around the world. Important competitions, like Champions League, attract audience all over the world, enjoy publicity and media attention. However, the importance of controlling the public’ emotional reactions has become an everyday issue next to the success of specific football groups. It is important to raise awareness of the violence among football fans, in order to minimize the problem and simply enjoy good football games.

Rugby

Rugby is considered to be one of the most violent sports activities. Rugby traumas and injuries can sometimes be very serious, since this game demands a high amount of physical energy. Known rugby injuries include shoulder, knee and ankle joint injuries, concussion and spinal injury. The most dangerous is the spinal cord injury – although it is rare, its results may be catastrophic.

The reasons which lead to injuries of rugby players are numerous – some refer to the nature of the game, other are more general. Lack of playing and training time may result in more or less serious injuries. One of the common reasons is the lack of a technique, of specific information, explaining how to protect the player’s body from being injured.

Since rugby is a contact sport, injury risks are related to physical contact, primarily in tackle. Most rugby accidents involve the players’ arms and hands, shoulders and back. There is also risk of fractures in the head, shoulders, arms, hands, or legs. The lack of defense in rugby, contrary to American Football, where the players use helmets, may result in head injuries.

Another reason for injuries in sports is carelessness combined with high level of adrenalin. It is known for a fact that careless player endangers not only himself but the players around him. However, the adrenalin burning in veins of young players and the desire to win the game, often results in injuries, when the players forget about the need to “play safe”.

Rugby, as every other sport, demands dedication and hard training. However, it is important to follow the rules and play carefully, in order to avoid injuries

the Game of Bowling

Bowling is a game of scoring points by knocking down pins with balls. Fundamentally, a player rolls a heavy bowling ball into a flat surface to knock down arranged pins of nine or ten, depending on the game you play. There are several forms of bowling; some are played indoors which usually uses a lane or a long flat polished wood surface with gutters along the length of the lane. Primary examples of these indoor types are the feather bowling, duckpin bowling, candlepin bowling, ninepin skittles, five pin bowling and the most popular form of bowling which is the Ten-pin.

Ten-pin bowling is very similar to the other forms, except the game obviously uses ten pins which the player should attempt to knock down as many pins possible to score points. The game has ten frames with each frame consisting two rolls for each competing player.

Another popular bowling variant is the Five-pin bowling which is often played in Canada. It is a recent modification of Ten-pin bowling but instead of two attempts, Five-pin has three attempts, and each attempt can be thrown in quick succession. The game employs smaller balls without fingerholes, making it difficult to attain a perfect score since splits are more frequent.

The outdoor type usually utilizes a lawn, or a patch of gravel. The examples of which are Lawn Bowling, Bocce, and Petanque. Petanque is widely played in especially in France.

Tracing up bowling's history, it is widely believed that the German culture was the cradle of this sport. Though there have been substantial evidences of bowling-like games in ancient Egypt, history clearly points that bowling really did occur in Germany since its dark ages. In those days, heathens and heretics abound the land and the usual practice for the German clergy was a simple test of knocking down clubs called Kegel by rolling a stone or a wooden ball. If the individual succeeds in knocking the club down, he is considered free of sin. This practice eventually made its way from the secular world to the common people and along the way got more refined until ultimately became an interesting sport that survived till this day.

What You Need To Play

I would like to offer some tips on equipment purchase and what would be required to get started playing golf. Beside club purchase, there are additional items necessary to prepare yourself for play. The next most obvious items are a golf bag and golf balls. If you are purchasing a starter set of clubs many come with a golf bag included. If you like to walk and enjoy a little workout as you play there are carry bags, which are light weight and are slung over your shoulders. There are other bag options for you to choose from and I would suggest that you speak to the sales representative in your local pro shop or golf store (ie; Dick's Sporting Goods and Golfsmith would provide this service) and ask him to explain the different types and price range to best suit your needs. Golf balls can also vary dramatically in price - from about $9.99 /dozen to $45.99 for the best balls on the market - Titleist Pro V and Pro V1x.

As a beginner I would recommend that you buy the more economically priced balls. The difference in performance will be negligible and you will have a tendency to lose more balls as a novice so why waste money? As you improve, you can always upgrade the type of ball that you use - I would recommend purchasing about two dozen balls to get started. There are also different compression golf balls made. 80, 90 and 100. The compression selected is directly proportionate to how fast you swing and your golf mechanics. I will not elaborate on this right now but an 80 or 90 compression ball should be more than adequate for now. If you have some power and a fairly quick swing, I would opt for the 90 which may give you a bit more distance. NOTE: The professionals and low handicap players use the higher compression balls because their impact speed and swing mechanics will allow the ball to compress properly, thus attaining the maximum result in distance. Some other equipment I would strongly recommend would be as follows:

A golf towel, golf shoes ( though not absolutely necessary it will assist with stability as you swing), Golf tees ( Note: there are different height golf tees made for different drivers, woods and irons - I would recommend that you pick up an assortment of sizes - 2 1/8" for woods and irons & 2 3/4" or 3 1/4" for Drivers depending on type and size. Check with golf pro or sales person for recommendations if not sure), a golf glove ( not required but it will give you a definite advantage in gripping and holding the club more effectively), ball markers ( used on the green to mark your ball so you will not to block the path of your fellow player - a rule of golf etiquette), and a divot repair tool ( used to repair the indentation made in the green when the golf ball lands - one of the rules of etiquette to be addressed in a future writing ). Although not required to play golf, you may want to consider packing the following ancillary items : Band-aids, sunscreen and insect repellent. You never know when you may need them and it's better to be prepared to allow for maximum comfort while you play. I think we've covered most of the essentials and if you have any questions please feel free to submit them to me. Now you've got the Desire, you've got your equipment, next step is to learn how to play- "The Right Way".

There are a number of different options available to learn how to play golf. You can self teach ( read books and watch instructional videos), ask a relative or friend who knows how to play to teach you, if you are in a high school or college that offers a golf program - enroll in the program, take lessons from the golf pro at your local driving range, take golf lessons from the professional at your local golf course, golf store, private club or pro shop or enroll in a golf school. The method you choose can greatly effect your results so be sure to make the right decision for you
